Taste of the West Gold Award 2014

We are very proud to announce that we have just been told that we have received a Gold in this year’s Taste of the West Awards 2014.   “It is a wonderful accolade for all the Riverside team” said Arthur Watson “The quality of the food and the service that we provide is very important to all of us.  It is excellent news to have it confirmed that what we are doing is meeting an exceeding expectations.”

The vast majority of the menu was sourced locally. There were plenty of options from the wine list, soft drinks, starters, mains & desserts. Even the cheese was from local suppliers.  The extensive fish selection was predominately sourced locally i.e. Lyme bay/Bridport and reflected the day’s catch.

South West producers and suppliers were specified on boards, within the menu and also on the wall as you entered the restaurant.


The quality of the meal was outstanding. The menu had a varied selection of fresh produce from the day’s catch. The selection also catered for non fish lovers & vegetarians. Simply put, if you love food there was something special on the menu for everyone.

The meal was presented beautifully, Paul had the dressed crab to start, I had the langoustines which were exquisite. To follow we both had Brill which was presented in a delicious sauce served with amazing sauté potatoes. This dish lived up to its name; it was Brill-iant!

The dessert selection was both varied and tasty. The cheese selection sourced mainly from Somerset was also very good.

All the courses were cooked to perfection, fresh and of a very high standard. The freshness, flavours and taste all surpassed our expectations.


The service was very attentive but not overbearing. The staff were very polite and friendly, clearly they had a passion for good food. They all appeared to have a good knowledge of the source of the produce.


The location is superb and the restaurant itself is decorated in a style that perfectly reflects the surroundings and the menu. It’s a lovely place to be. Given the standard and quality of the produce I found the meal to be good value for money. It’s not your every day restaurant however for a special occasion you would not be disappointed.


Fantastic food, location & service; this is simply a great place for a special occasion. It’s a lovely place to spend an evening, not to mention the food which was outstanding. This place should have a Michelin Star!
