The Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, the local Dorset charity that provides high quality specialist palliative care services for people with cancer and similar life threatening diseases, recently held a luncheon at the Riverside Restaurant, West Bay.
80 people attended the event, enjoying a welcoming glass of wine (or soft drink), before sitting down to a delicious two course lunch prepared by the Head Chef, Tony Shaw and his team, followed by coffee. They were then entertained by the guest speaker Richard Kay ASFAV of Lawrences Fine Art Auctioneers whose talk entitled “Ten Commandments for Auctioneers” was factual, amusing and full of personal anecdotes.
Said Mr Dave Durrant, who was standing in as organiser of the event due to Dr Ian Gibson being sadly not well and in hospital:
“On behalf of the Trust, I would like to thank everyone who has supported our lunch today and in particularly the Riverside Restaurant and their team who have provided us with a superb lunch as well as generously donating 50% of the takings to our charity; this with your support from the raffle has meant that we have raised a fantastic £1335 today. The Weldmar Hospicecare wouldn’t be able to care for the people of Dorset without your help”.
